Ever since my 5th grade field trip to the "Colonial Town" (location in America: unknown) I have wanted to learn how to blow glass (become a glassblower, glassmith, gaffer <--interesting). I have never even attempted to do it before, but I hear it's a difficult trade. Either way, I find the technique amazing to watch, and I have found an artist who has brought a completely different view to this old technique, and his name is Michael Allison.
Pretty nifty, ey?

for breakfast i had...
Found this artist/photographer online at the Swiss Miss Design Studio blog. Looks yummy, ey?
By photographer David Sykes. No photoshop work done here...
Somehow, he makes food look humorous.
His photography is very unique and often involves food in some way. Check out his site here.
Simply delicious!

artistic feathers
I found the designer, Kate MccGwire, on the Share Some Candy blog as well. The following excerpt is from her website:
"Kate MccGwire's work asks questions about the very nature of beauty. She's intrigued by the possibility of envisaging beauty as something more complex than merely what delights the senses"
Some amazing images from her 2009 collection. It's incredible that these pieces were made from feathers...
The movement of her design is remarkable.
Close up on the feathers
Check out her website for more great pieces of artwork.

Maleonn photography
Today's post features another photographer named Maleonn from Shanghai, China. I urge you to check out his site with his beautiful and inspiring works of art and design. A lot of his stuff is very dark (I happened to pick out some of the more colorful ones here, however), but he balances these desaturated tones with pops of brightly colored props, makeup, and lighting. One of my new found favorites.
I found this photographer while searching on the Share Some Candy blog..
Be sure to check out Maleonn's site. Lots more of these beautifully art directed moments in photography.
Cheers,
Lauren

Honestly, where do you find a gigantic peach? (other than from a boy named James)
I love his ability to create these fantasy moments in urban environments.
Slightly graphic, but mind you, it's all cotton.
Be sure to check out Maleonn's site. Lots more of these beautifully art directed moments in photography.
Cheers,
Lauren

alice in wonderland
As many of you know, Tim Burton has created yet another beutifully looking installment of a youthful classic that is Alice in Wonderland. Starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Anne Hathaway, and Mia Wasikowska. I found a few images online of the world created for this story that will be anxiously awaited for until 2010.
Alice, played by Mia Wasikowska
The Mad Hatter, played by Johnny Depp
The Red Queen, played by Helena Bonham Carter
The White Queen, played by Anne Hathaway
Now, I REALLY wish I were going to Comic Con...
