Stumbled upon Chris Labrooy's awesome 3D digital designs on behance.net.
Love how he plays with these shapes to make inanimate objects explode with exaggerated, colorful sculptures.

JULIE VERHOEVEN
I have fallen in love. Julie Verhoeven hails from London and is the mastermind behind these beautiful illustrations and design work below. A current fashion designer, illustrator, creative director, and tutor, she has worked with such names as John Galliano, Louis Vuitton, Mulberry, and Versace. I'm thinking about getting this book because I can't stop flipping through these illustrations!

website launch!
Hey all. I just wanted to spread the word that I launched my website today after months of work and hard labor! (slightly kidding...) Here is the link: www.laurenmalizia.com

It's still in the works, but it includes info on the films I worked on as Production Designer and snapshots of the before and after stages of production on "Trailerpark" and "The Dying Western." Check it out if you got a minute!
Thanks!
Laur

Maleonn photography
Today's post features another photographer named Maleonn from Shanghai, China. I urge you to check out his site with his beautiful and inspiring works of art and design. A lot of his stuff is very dark (I happened to pick out some of the more colorful ones here, however), but he balances these desaturated tones with pops of brightly colored props, makeup, and lighting. One of my new found favorites.
I found this photographer while searching on the Share Some Candy blog..

Be sure to check out Maleonn's site. Lots more of these beautifully art directed moments in photography.
Cheers,
Lauren

Honestly, where do you find a gigantic peach? (other than from a boy named James)
I love his ability to create these fantasy moments in urban environments.
Slightly graphic, but mind you, it's all cotton.
Be sure to check out Maleonn's site. Lots more of these beautifully art directed moments in photography.
Cheers,
Lauren

Things are starting up, and wrapping up
First blog entry, and it come at a time when things are commencing around here in little 'ol Athens, Ohio. I just finished working on a feature length film, Trailerpark, at school as Production Designer and we had the screening on June 7th in MemAud on campus. The experience was one I will never forget, and I have learned so much throughout this process.
I plan on posting thoughts, words, images, videos, and basically anything that I feel could inspire me and inspire others in design. I think we all come across things everyday that consciously or subconsciously affect our days. Might as well compile it up and perhaps start some discussions or food for your tummies.
Enjoy,
Laur
